Hi, I’m Mary. Nice to see you!
Basically, I generate awareness and sales through social media campaigns. My career began as a blogger yielding revenue through content marketing in which I evolved into a strategist for other companies to do the same.
Currently I am the Principal at MTM Digital Media Strategies and the Publisher of the lifestyle blog MoreThanMary.com.
Due to my passion for exploration, I also write travel features for The Huffington Post, The Houston Chroncile, and more.
MoreThanMary.com
MoreThanMary is a lifestyle blog focusing on a different theme each day so that over the course of a week, it’s like reading a magazine cover to cover written by someone you trust. Topics include: fitness, fashion, food, nutrition, reviews, home decor, travel, etc. Additionally, I have contributors who write from a expert/focused perspective and offer tips and tricks of their trade. My honesty and direct approach to publishing, reviewing products and services, and sharing advice has garnered a loyal audience that I never take for granted.
The blog is fueled solely by sponsorships. There is absolutely no advertising on MTM. Any banner ad you see signifies a personal endorsement from me that is reiterated in the brand’s integration into my life and content.
MTM Strategies
I started MTM Strategies to guide the branding and marketing efforts of companies looking to expand their reach and influence online.
My goal is to teach companies how to generate their own content efficiently for a quantifiable ROI that exceeds their expectations. By creating companies as a valuable resource in their industry, people enjoy engaging with their brand. I also work to support and leverage other traditional campaigns.
Most CEOs and Presidents who come to me want to use social media and don’t know where to begin. After a simple analysis of their existing properties, I usually find they need to revise their online branding and website before they can engage with an audience. For this reason, MTM is a full service digital agency that can work hand-in-hand with CMOs and PR agencies.
Travel Writing
After living in Los Angeles, London, New York, and even Argentina, I refer to myself as a gypsy that enjoys traveling as often as possible. When I moved back home to Houston, I harnessed those experiences and began writing travel features for The Houston Chronicle in “The Good Life” section. I started by writing city guides, but now I am known for my hotel reviews. Now I have moved on to write for The Huffington Post, SpaWeek, and MotherNatureNetwork.
WORK HISTORY – My Journey to Right Now
After graduating from the University of Southern California in 2003 and deciding I did NOT want to be a television producer, I began my first company Moë Designs, a line of clever and classic handbags. My signature design, the CLICK bag, quickly became a celeb and press favorite for its unique and functional design. Moë was on the shelves in over 100 stores worldwide, including Bloomingdale’s, Henri Bendel, Searle, Madison, and Tootsies until 2007.
It should be no surprise I began my career in blogging/lifecasting as a fashion blogger. While living in NYC in 2007, friend (and NYC famed blogger) Julia Allison gave me my first site StyleByMaryRambin.com to share my fashion insight with the world. Although I was skeptical anyone would read it, the blog quickly gained loyal fans (as well as fanatical critics). In June of 2008, Julia Allison, Meghan Asha (a tech blogger) and I pooled our sites to launch NonSociety, a lifecasting platform, and began producing the weekly web series TMIWeekly with Next New Networks.
My most notable accomplishment at NonSociety was being the first person to live blog New York Fashion Week from the front row. When other publications figured out they could do it too, I upped my game and began livestreaming the action continuously with LiveStream. We rolled seamlessly between shows going back stage and into the lounges to expose the real flow of the event. (See edited recaps here.)This too has now become a common practice.
In February 2009, I parted ways with the girls to start MoreThanMary.
With the launch of MTM, I also became a brand ambassador for Kodak. They were the exclusive sponsor for MTM, and additionally I hosted their red carpets, produced event coverage, represented the brand at NYFW, and reviewed their products to engage their customers in a more entertaining way.
At the end of 2009 I finally left New York and found my way back to Houston via Los Angeles and Playa del Carmen. It’s been a long and adventurous journey for this gypsy entrepreneur, and I’ve loved every minute of it.
